New Construction Windows

Another alternative is to cut out your existing windows and replace with new "new construction" windows. Despite the name, this method is also used to replace old windows. This method is more labor intensive and involves removing the old window and cutting back the siding around the frame. This is done so that the factory flange, which flashes the window and helps to keep it watertight, can be left on the window during the installation process (just like in new construction). The window is then trimmed with wood, sealed and caulked.
